Abergavenny Town Girls Under 13s got their new season league campaign off to a great start win with a 4-3 win over a very good Treowen team.
The girls started off positively with front three Eleri Jones, Macey McCann and Ruby Gould all creating chances. Midfielders Chelleter Graham-Sawyers, Sophie Engel and Mia Sherrard also worked hard to gain the advantage early on.
Abergavenny went ahead after an own goal which was forced from pressure applied by McCann. Treowen soon started to come into the game and drew level. Defenders Brooke Davies, Bella Wilce, Cristyn Powell and Bobbi Allcock all had to work hard throughout the game to stop the Treowen offensive , but showed good promise for the season ahead.
Meg Welford, Carys Pond and Isabella Rudge came into the attack and applied some great pressure on the Treowen outfit.
The game was an engaging encounter with the result swaying from side to side, but the Aber Girls eventually came out on top with a superb hat trick in the second half from Eleri Jones.
Keeper Katie Barker was very active and made a few decent saves to keep the team in the game.
THE Girls continued their excellent start to the new season with a comfortable win against Porth on a wet and difficult pitch.
The girls started well with a great strike from Mia Sherrard allowing them to take the lead. Porth then pulled level after good piece of play by the home team. However Aber continued to create chances with Macey McCann netting her first of season. Eleri Jones continued her fine goal scoring form with the third.
With a regular keeper unavailable, Gracie Grosvenor played between the sticks and looked very comfortable with excellent distribution and assured handling.
Defenders Bella Wilce, Bobbi Allcock, Cristyn Powell and Brooke Davies all looked very comfortable, and dealt with the Porth attack with ease.
Midfielders Chelleter Graham-Sawyers, Sophie Engel, Meg Welford and Mia Sherrard controlled the midfield which allowed attacking players Macey McCann, Ruby Gould and Eleri Jones to cause the Porth defence a very tough task.
The girls have back to back home games in the next two weeks, which they hope will continue their fine start.
