ABERGAVENNY Town Girls Under 12s returned to action this weekend in the league cup.

The girls battled tremendously hard on a very heavy pitch, but came out losers 2-0 to Albion Rovers.

Abergavenny played some really good football, but unfortunately the Albion keeper denied them any goals and pulled off at least three quality saves.

Midfielders Mia Sherrard, Sophie Engel and Chelleter Graham-Sawyers battled tirelessly. Attackers Ruby Gould, Megan Welford and Carys Pond created opportunities, but unfortunately didn’t get the rub of the green. Defenders Cristyn Powell, Brooke Davies and Bella Wilce looked solid at the back along with keeper Katie Barker in goal.

It was a well fought contest and the coaches at the club feel the result will benefit the team going into the second-half of the season.
