IN their match against Sudbrook, Abergavenny won the toss and elected to field first.

Sudbrook got away to a very solid start reaching 78 before losing their first wicket. Abergavenny then took three quick wickets to reduce Sudbrook to 128-4. The fifth wicket saw a solid partnership taking the score past 200, Sudbrook were eventually all out for 253 in the 49th over. Adam Harrison didn’t take a wicket but bowled really well to finish his 10 overs for just 25 runs. Geraint Leach (3-44), Sam Clarke (2-55), Ben Davies (3-50), and James Watkins (2-19) were the wicket takers. In reply Abergavenny once again lost an early wicket with the score on just 18. The second wicket fell on 64 and the third and fourth wickets at 96 and 140 respectively. Opener Will Glen was joined by skipper Geraint Leach and together they put on 37. Disastrously, Glenn was run out for 92 (taking his Season total past 500) and with that the best hope of victory was gone. Abergavenny eventually fell 10 runs short at 243-9. The 10 points picked up by Abergavenny sees them safely in mid-table with just one game left.

Abergavenny Second X1 were away to Blackwood. Batting first they scored 261- 4 in their 45 overs thanks in no small part to Luke Bowen who although hasn’t played much this season has managed to score a century and an 87 for the 3rd X1. Since promotion to the Second X1 he has scored 40 against Monkswood and this weekend a magnificent 146 well supported by Lee Fury (59), Tom Pipe (21), and Steve Brown (15).

Blackwood never really threatened the target and finished on 157 for six in their 45 overs. The 18 points accrued wasn’t enough to secure the title but it did secure the runners up spot for a team who have lost just two games all season.
