Abergavenny played their first MBA game of the season last Saturday when they entertained Brynmawr at Avenue Road. Abergavenny managed to win on all four rinks to secure a comfortable victory and maximum league points.

Matthew Vale’s rink established a ten shot lead after the first six ends. From this point they were never in danger of losing their game and went on to win by 33 shots to seven. The rink of Anthony Moriarty was involved in a close game, being one shot behind with four ends to play. The rink then scored nine shots, whilst conceding only one, over the final ends to win by 23 shots to 16.

The game involving the rink of Gethin Hill was close throughout but the Brynmawr rink managed to establish a four shot lead with three ends to play. A grandstand finish by the Abergavenny rink saw them score five shots, including three on the final end, to win the game by 18 shots to 17. John Vale’s rink was six shots down after the first five ends. Over the remaining 16 ends the Abergavenny rink managed to score 23 shots, conceding only four, to win the game by 23 shots to 10.

The Ladies were due to play a league fixture at Caerleon but this had to be cancelled due to torrential rain. This has been rearranged to be played this week

This coming Saturday the MBA team has no fixture but during the next week, the Ladies will play league games against Penyrheol at Avenue Road and Pontypool Park at Panteg House.
