ABERGAVENNY Bowls Club travelled to Brynmawr for their penultimate MBA game of the season. Although they were successful on two of the four rinks, they were defeated by 83 shots to 73.
Jack Vale’s rink held an 11 shot lead with five ends to play. The Brynmawr rink made a determined effort to overturn the situation but the Abergavenny rink held on to win by 26 shots to 20.
Paul Beaumonts’ rink was one shot behind after 10 ends. They then had the better of the second half of the game, outscoring their opponents to win by 29 shots to 20.
After conceding six shots on the first three ends the rink of Gethin Hill could never get on level terms with their opponents and were eventually defeated by 18 shots to 13.
Anthony Moriarty’s rink could never come to terms with the green and so suffered a defeat by 25 shots to five.
This weekend Abergavenny play their final MBA game of the season at Pontymister Athletic. This is followed on Tuesday, September 5 with a friendly mixed team game at Talgarth.
