Blaenavon Blues - 0
Dafen Welfare - 2
THE Blues crashed out of the FAW Trophy at the fourth round stage on the weekend after a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Dafen Welfare from the Carmarthenshire League Premier Division.
The Blues started well and enjoyed their fair share of possession in the opening 15 minutes, but following the early exchanges the visitors began to pass the ball around with confidence.
After creating numerous chances during the opening 35 minutes where Blues keeper' Lee Jones produced several outstanding saves to keep Dafen at bay, the visitors finally broke the deadlock after a goal mouth scramble when midfielder Dean Jenkins fired home to give his side a deserved half-time
The Blues came out with more vigour in the second half and pressed the opposition, but although they enjoyed more possession they still found the visitors defence too difficult to break down.
With ten minutes remaining, Dafen doubled their lead and won the match when Andrew Gardner beat Blues keeper' Jones.
This Saturday the Blues travel the short distance to face Clydach Wasps. Kick off is at 2pm.
