ABERGAVENNY Squash Club’s ‘E’ team played their final match of the season against the League champions Monmouth ‘C’, and achieved the unthinkable by administering a 3-2 beating to their opponents, who lost their undefeated record for the season.
Both Mark Nicholls and Lee Nightingall won their matches, but the highlight proved to be Simon Cave’s win, as he finally managed to win a five setter. The team finish the season in third place.

The ‘A’ team maintained their impressive run of form by beating the current League champions Newport ‘A’ by three matches to two. The team was ably led by captain Chris Hill, who was supported with wins by Lewys Hurst and John Proctor. With two matches to go, the team reside in sixth place, two points above the relegation zone, and is giving itself every chance of maintaining its Premiership place.

The ‘B’ team lost to the team just above them in the league, Lantrisant ‘B’, thus confirming their relegation. Unfortunately, they went out with a whimper rather than a bang, as the team only consisted of four members, having once again lost key players to injury and illness. It is to be hoped that the next autumn season will see the team return to full strength and winning ways.
