Abergavenny Town FC - 7 Cwmffrwdoer Sports FC - 0

ABERGAVENNY Town and Cwmffrwdoer Sports were joint league leaders going into Saturday's match, but it was Town who claimed outright top spot with a comprehensive victory as their nearest rivals dropped points. Not that it was all plain sailing especially in the first half hour when Cwmffrrwdoer had most of the play, and it took a string of fine saves from Town 'keeper Tom Indge to keep his goal intact. However the Town broke the deadlock when Craig Norman got that all important first goal ten minutes from the break and when Dean Morgan scored from the spot with half time looming the Town had a comfortable half time cushion. It was that man Morgan who edged the Town further ahead on the hour waltzing into the Cwmffrwdoer box and carefully picking his spot, and ten minutes he got his hat trick courtesy of another penalty award. It didn't stop there, and Morgan who was now rampant rattled in another as he gave 'Doer goalkeeper Sam Morris no chance. New signing Deri Preece, who came on as a substitute in the second half claimed his first goal for the Town as they hit the half dozen , and the man who started it all, Craig Norman, was the man who finally ended it, when he claimed his second and Town's seventh. With no game next Saturday, Abergavenny Town are next in action at their Pen-y-Pound home when they entertain Aber Valley in round two of the FAW Trophy on Saturday, September 20. Kick-off is at 2pm.
