THE A465 Heads of the Valley Trunk Road is to be closed to traffic from 8.30pm on Friday, November 18 until 6am on Monday, November 21.

The closure will allow contractors Contain to undertake high level earthworks at the waterworks cutting outside the recently installed rock fall protection measures. Due to the height of certain sections of the rock face, it is not feasible to construct rock fall protection high enough.

The weekend will also see work on creating a deep drainage crossing across the carriageway in the vicinity of the Drum and Monkey, the construction of two man hole chambers onto existing deep drainage culverts which are situated in the centre of the existing eastbound carriageway and the demolition of existing retaining walls to beneath new and existing carriageway level.

Also undertaken will be excavation works directly alongside existing carriage to enable the construction of a permanent carriageway, in the vicinity of Station Road, Gilwern and tree clearance, which includes some large trees, directly alongside the existing carriageway, adjacent to the Navigation Public House. This will mean that trees will be be felled across the carriageway away from the pub and the canal.

A crossover point for Clydach South and North will be available
