ARMED police were called to the streets of Pontypool today.

The video taken by an eyewitness shows a man being handcuffed at gunpoint.

A police spokesperson told the Chronicle, “We received a call at around 12pm on Tuesday 2 December from a member of the public concerned they had seen a man carrying a weapon, reportedly a sword, in Pontypool town centre.

“Officers attended, including armed officers as a precaution. Officers located a young male carrying an ornamental wooden sword and confirmed there was no safety risk. No offences were identified.”
