If you have a budding Becky James or Bradley Wiggins in your family you’ll be interested to know that Welsh Cycling are celebrating our cycling success in Rio with a chance for young people to ride the velodrome - free.
Free track cycling taster sessions are being offered at Wales National Velodrome this Tuesday and Wednesday (August 16 and 17) for young riders who have been inspired by the Olympics.
The taster sessions are open for young people aged 10 – 16 years old who have basic cycling skills, and want to try track cycling for the first time.
The Wales National Velodrome in Newport has played an important part in the journey of our Olympians. They trained there as young riders, and it has been the venue of choice for the Team GB holding camps for Beijing, London and Rio Olympics.
Wednesday’s taster sessions are from 9am to 10.30am and 10.30am to 12 noon.
Please arrive 30 minutes before the session to collect hire bike.
Bike hire is included, and riders must be 10 - 16 years old to take part.
Bikes are fitted with toe straps and Look KEO pedals, trainers are recommended with sport clothing.
The session is aimed at first time track riders, who have basic cycling skills
