CRICKHOWELL sisters Bethan and Hannah Gould have made history by becoming the first pair of twins to take the world title at the Mounted Games World Pairs Championships held in Newark, Nottingham.

The classy sister act, competed against pairs from around the world to take the title last weekend in fine style over last year's winners Tom Pharaz and Danny Spencer, who this year settled for the reserve spot.

Bethan, who rides TJ, and Hannah, who rides Ollie, were both over the moon at their historical achievement.

Having both enjoyed solo success at many major events over the years, the euphoric siblings are delighted to have won something for the first time together as a team.

Bethan and Hannah have both represented their country this year at Home and abroad and have recently returned from the European Championships in Verden Germany.

Hannah was a part of the very successful Crickhowell pony club team who competed at the 2004 Horse of the Year Show, whilst Bethan has also been crowned World Individual Champion, and more recently the British Individual Champion.

So for the talented pair to take a world title together was a fitting end to a fabulous season.

Both girls represent the very successful Monmouthshire mounted games team, and are trained by Iain Hopkins from Llanarth.

Monmouthshire mounted games team have produced three World Champions in 2008, as fellow team mate Elley Roberts also took a world title with her pony Merlin earlier on in the year.

Iain Hopkins said, "I have trained both Bethan and Hannah from a very young age, and I am very proud of their win.

"Their dedication to the sport is amazing and they are a credit to our club."
