Tributes have poured in from the family of a motorcyclist who died following a crash in Abergavenny.

John Grant, 30, was involved in a fatal collision with a Range Rover near the Clytha Arms pub on Saturday June 4.

His family paid tribute to their ‘loving son’, who lived in the Bristol area.

In a statement, his family said, “At 7.15pm on Saturday evening, I had two beautiful sons who were literally my pride and joy, by 7.45pm, Johnny had gone.

“We are all totally and utterly heartbroken to lose him, a loving and beloved son, brother, friend and partner.

“He died doing what he loved. Hold your children close to you.”

A police spokeswoman said, “At around 7.30pm on Saturday June 4, Gwent Police received a report of an RTC on Groesonen Road, Clytha.

“The collision took place between a blue Honda Motorcycle and a Range Rover near the Clytha Arms Pub and Restaurant.

“A 30-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police added that a 60-year-old man from Monmouthshire has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous drive.

He is currently on police bail until September 26 of this year.
