LOCAL lad Steve Stokes had a great time 'stoking' the fires of victory as he blazed a trail and cruised to first place in the Get Connected Traders' Race.
The Gateway Cycles sales manager came home ahead of M&D Cycles Ross Farley in second place and Ian Davies from Anthony A Davies Ltd in third-place.
The competition to decide who was the fastest trader in Abergavenny was pretty keen and frightfully fierce as the traders saddled up to do battle in the unforgiving arena of the streets, where lycra-clad, two-wheeled gladiators joust for the glory of becoming numero uno.
However, in amongst all the sweat and tears, grunt and groans, and huffing and puffing there could be only one winner, and this year's title of 'Trader Tornado' went to Gateway's champ of commerce Steve Stokes.
The event sponsors also did very well with Damian Cole from Get Connected finishing fourth and Alison Ravetta and Rory Stratton from FR Ball 'insuring' they gave each other a run for their money!
Traders' race supporter and entrant Andrew Ewers of the 'Codfather' on Frogmore Street said, "We have had the best weekend as far as sales are concerned for two years. Bill Owen has done a great job, Abergavenny needs more events like this"
