A 23-year-old man from Brynmawr has been charged with murder following the death of David Roy Barnes who was found near a pub in the town.
Jonathan Rees-Williams,of Beaufort Street, Brynmawr, appeared before Newport magistrates charged with the murder of David Roy Barnes, 20, where he was remanded in custody to appear at Newport Crown Court on September 4.
David Roy Barnes, 20, originally from Rassau, was found lying near the Griffin Hotel, Beaufort Street at approximately 1am on Friday, August 22, he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Part of Beaufort Street remained closed until late Friday night while scenes of crime and forensics examined the area, some businesses in the street also remained closed on Saturday.
The 21 year old woman from the Ebbw Vale area who was also being questioned in connection with the incident has since been released without charge.
