Mardy Tigers U12 - 0

Cardiff City U12 - 1

THE Mardy Tigers were put to the sword at the hands of Cardiff City by the narrowest of margins in the South Wales League Cup final.

However, despite losing the youngsters can be very proud of their gutsy performance.

Played at ENTO Aberaman, a slow start from the Tigers gave the early initiative to City who slotted home a lucky rebound from the post to take an early lead.

The City strike spurred the Tigers on as they began to dominate, only to find the Bluebird keeper and girl of the match in fine form, thwarting the best the tigers could throw at her.

The Tigers' continued attempts to get back in the game weren't helped when young striker Jemma Davies was cruelly taken out with a nasty challenge in the second half.

Yet this incident didn't stop the Mardy girls from giving their all - fired forward by captain Alana Murphy and midfield powerhouse Shauna Pentney.

Unfortunately, a Mardy result wasn't to be, but the Tigers can hold their heads high knowing they gave their all on the big occasion.
