Three people were injured when a train hit overhead power lines at Abergavenny railway station on Friday evening.

It is understood the three people were hit by the cables which had been ’disrupted’ by a train arriving at the station from Holyhead at around 6pm

Network Rail said they had been taken to hospital suffering with minor bruising but later discharged.

Arriva Trains Wales said services had been severely disrupted as a result.

A statement on its website said, "Due to a fault with line side equipment at Abergavenny, services along this route were severely disrupted.

"Arriva Trains Wales regrets the inconvenience caused and assures customers that everything is being done to resolve the situation as rapidly as possible."

The Hereford line reopened on Friday and Abergavenny station was operating as usual on Saturday morning.
