The winner of a local shopping voucher has made a kind and generous festive gesture by donating her prize to a local homeless person.
Mrs Christine Gould of Chepstow was the winner of an Abergavenny Market £25 voucher giveaway organised by Monmouthshire County Council on December 5.
Local housing officer Tracey Finnis received the voucher from Mrs Gould and will forward it so a recipient can choose goods from the Market Hall.
Due to the success of its first voucher giveaway, the council will hold an additional draw on Saturday Saturday, December 19. Shoppers making a purchase in the Market Hall on those days will be issued with an entry form which should be posted in the box provided. Winners must redeem the vouchers in the Market Hall by Thursday, December 31.
Abergavenny Market Hall will run children’s craft activities with Santa Dust and Reindeer Foodbags making on December 19 between 10am and 2pm. These activities are free to all, but will be on a first come, first served basis.
They coincide with the council’s provision of free Saturday parking in the approach to Christmas, giving support to the county’s fantastic range of independent retailers and encouraging shoppers to buy locally.
Council Leader Peter Fox commented: “What a fabulous gesture by Mrs Gould. This truly embraces the spirit of the season, and we are grateful for such a considerate act.”
