GLANGRWYNEY capped the first half of the season in form with a 108 run victory over Bartestree.

As is tradition, home skipper Geoff Boswell Holmes lost the toss and the 'Groin' were immediately put into bat on a dank looking pitch.

The home openers, however, played sensibly with Mike Parker in early form reaching 46 before hitting a 'gimmie' straight to mid wicket.

Paul Daniels (58) plodded on and upped the tempo late on to reach his half century. The Glangrwyney middle order all contributed with Tim Jones (16), Tom Grubb (27), Joe Bowker (17) and Nick Jones (20) breaking out the long handles to post a more than competitive 222 for nine of their 45 overs.

The visitors started badly losing a wicket early on to the bowling of Ben Bowker (1/22). Bartestree rebuilt their innings with their skipper Simpkins and Firth putting on a half century stand for the second wicket.

The introduction of swinger Grubb proved vital picking up Simpkins with a 'clever' slower bouncer and the dangerous Blanchard two balls later.

Grubb (6/40) didn't stop there and with the help of reluctant tweaker Nicky Pooler (2/15) and some gazelle like fielding from Ricardo Ashe raced through the visitors batting line up bowling them out for 114.

This leaves Glangrwyney at mid table halfway through the season and they will be looking to build on this league standing in the remainder of their matches.

The match between Glangrwyney and Kington was cancelled before a ball was bowled.
