I WOULD like to thank everyone who contributed to the

successful fundraising garden party for WaterAid at

Walterstone on July 10.

Thanks to those who came, to those who sent donations,

the stall holders and local businesses.

David and Martha of Love Zimbabwe deserve special

tribute both for the wonderful stalls of handcrafted

artefacts and Martha's inspiring talk on empowering these

wonderful craftsmen and women in such terrible times for

that country.

Help from the business community ranged from free

supplies of cheese from Blaenafon Cheddar Co, Neal's

Yard, Neil Powell, Edwards Butchers in Abergavenny to

donations and raffle prizes from Brian Edwards, Sunny

Bank Wines, Celtic Water, Greyhound Vaults, The Park

Hotel, Pandy, Hopes of Longtown, Rowlest One Ice Cream,

Monnow Valley Arts and Golden Valley Accountancy. There

was fantastic support from Jane Webb Inspirations,

Blaenavon.

Donations are still coming in but we hope to raise over

£1,000 for the Walterstone Water and west Africa, helping

to bring clean water to rural communities there.
