ABERGAVENNY sweltering summer looks set to continue with the Chronicle’s weatherman Jonathan Powell predicting temperatures in the early 80s for the next two weeks.

“The very warm and at times stifling heat continues as we start July with temperatures pressing the early 80’s Fahrenheit,” said Jonathan.

“ The settled and fine weather should chiefly hold for some time yet, with intermittent thunderstorm salvos only temporarily derailing the hot conditions.  The first two weeks of July, (bar those thunderstorms), look largely, dry, sunny, and at times, very warm.

“The second half of July sees the warm weather continue for a while before fading somewhat, with the introduction of more changeable conditions towards August.  However, should the sequence of highs prove as effective as they have done in slamming the door on the Atlantic, then a continuation into late July and August of the good weather is by no means impossible,” he added.
