TO celebrate the important events occurring in the local area this year such as the Eisteddfod at Cwmbran and the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor, the Monmouthshire Golf Club has arranged a three day Summer Festival for August.
In addition to a new Club golf competition and Annual diner/dance party on Saturday, August 7, there will be two evening events for members, friends and visitors, at the club house, on August 5, 6.
Also on August 5 there will be an Antiques Road Show with Edward Chetwynd, an experienced auctioneer and antiques dealer, at which he will talk about the development of specific antiques, particularly furniture, and after a buffet supper, will discuss and evaluate prized objects brought along by those attending, and this will include tips on how to assess possibly valuable antiques before buying them.
On Friday, August 6, Franco Taruschio, the former owner of The Walnut Tree Restaurant, will be present for an evening of Summer Cooking. He will describe menus, ingredients and demonstrate methods of preparation and cooking, and after a buffet supper, people will be able to sample the products, and take part in a question and answer session.
Both events will start at 7pm. and tickets for each, will cost £10, including the meal, and there will be bar facilities available, throughout the evening. Further details and arrangements for tickets can be obtained by ringing the General Manager at the club on 01873582606.
The Club is particularly keen to let the local general public see for themselves what a truly beautiful Golf Club and social facility, they have here on their doorstep.
