A SPATE of five burglaries in two days last week has been reported to Abergavenny Police.
Items of jewellery and a quantity of cash was stolen in all the reported incidents that occurred on Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30.
Two adjacent houses on the Abergavenny Road in Gilwern were broken into during daylight hours by forcing open windows to gain entry on Thursday. Shortly afterwards the owners of a property in Llanfoist suffered at the hands of the thieves using the same method of entry. An additional property in the Cantref area was broken into during that evening.
A property in Govilon was also targeted on Friday and along with stealing jewellery the thieves stole the keys to a blue Fiesta parked in the driveway and made their getaway in the 07 registered vehicle.
A spokeswoman for Gwent police suggested that home owners should make sure their property is secured when they leave for work and that any keys belonging to vehicles left in the driveway should be removed from sight.
Anybody who saw anything suspicious in these areas, especially if they saw what looked like builders working on a property, should contact Abergavenny police on 101 or 01633 838111.
