After 45 years of producing Usk Young Farmers Club‘s theatrical performances across drama, entertainments and pantomime competitions, Jenny Hood is retiring from her role.
To show appreciation for Jenny’s commitment over the years, the club recently held a surprise tea party in Usk Memorial Hall.
Members past and present provided and attended the tea party to enjoy photos and scrap-books recording the club’s activities over many years. Jenny was presented a framed collage of pictures from past productions and a bouquet by the club’s chairman, Laura Baker.
A former english and drama teacher at Caerleon Comprehensive School, Jenny thanked the club for the surprise and the collage saying it will remind her of so many happy hours spent with the club. She described it a privilege to work with young people who work hard together to achieve the best in all they undertake.
Jenny said: “Usk YFC achieves A* rating in my eyes, encouraging the best in the youth, far removed from less favourable media portrayals. Youngsters are nurtured by older members, and parents and grandparents support all the club does.
“The club and its future are in safe hands. If you know an aimless youth, direct them to Usk YFC. They will be so busy life will become a joy.”
Laura Baker said: “We have been lucky enough to have had some real successes with in the performance competitions over the years, a large part of which is due to Jenny’s time and efforts spent coaching members. The club truly thanks Jenny for all she has contributed."
Vicki Fisher, a past Usk YFC member, will now be taking over the production baton from Mrs Hood.
