ABERGAVENNY Harvest Flower Festival is once again being held at Castle Street Methodist Church during the weekend of the Food Festival, September 20 and 21.

This the fifth years the church is celebrating the festival which is entitled, 'taste and see that the Lord is good."

Refreshments will served in the church hall all day Saturday and from midday Sunday. There will also be a quiet space for prayer and reflection in the Upper Room.

The occasion utilizes many talents within the church, from the planners, flower arrangers, people who help bake the cakes and make savory snacks to those who help serve the food, provide music or act as stewards.

All money raised during the weekend will be used to support the Methodist Hospital in Maua, Kenya, which a team of church members visited last summer whilst working for Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity is a housing charity dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing and homelessness around the world by helping impoverished people build their own low cost homes.

Whilst the entry to the Flower Festival is free, the generous donations made by visitors and profits from refreshments have also enabled them to support families in Bosnia, Mission Aviation Fellowship, Habitat for Humanity and Christian Aid.

On Saturday September 20, the church is open to visitors from 9.30am to 6.30pm while on Sunday it will be open from 11.30pm and closing at 5.30pm.

All are welcome to attend to the harvest festival service on Sunday, September 21 at 10.30am and there harvest praise service at 6pm.
