RAGLAN man and King Henry VIII schoolteacher Paul Spooner (pictured above) was recently part of the team that won the Trackrod National Rally in Yorkshire.
Spooner co-driving with Steve Perez in a Ford Focus world rally car, guided Perez to a 40 second win over second-placed Roger Duckworth and Mark Bromfield.
Spooner, a vastly experienced co-driver. has competed mainly this year in the Silverstone Tyres
British Trials and Rally Drivers Association Rally Championship.
Spooner is currently sixth co-driver overall in the Gold Star Championship and fifth in the Senior co-driver category.
Spooner and Perez will also enter the Ford Focus on the final round of this year's Pirelli MSA Gravel Rally Championship - The Bulldog Rally.
LLANGUA'S Steve and Caroline Wilks also successfully completed a rally at Pembrey on the weekend to secure a second in class in the 2008 Escort Challenge Championship.
In their MK2 Escort they have competed throughout the season at various venues against other Welsh crews.
They needed a finish at a rather waterlogged Pembrey, which they managed despite getting several inches of water in the car on one stage after going through one of the "streams" on stage.
The pair would like to thank their local sponsors, Keith Price Garages, ABC and Penbiddle Spa Systems.
