If you fancy get fitting, having fun and raising money for your chosen charity all in one go you should check out the Fitathlon at Monmouth Leisure Centre on Friday September 23 (6pm to midnight).

The event is being staged by the local circuit training group who meet there twice a week. It’s their third fitness challenge event, and they want it to be even more successful than the two last year – each of which raised around £2,000.

All ages are welcome and you don’t have to be super-fit to join. The event consists of a well-balanced programme of cross-circuits and everyone is able to work at their own pace. Divided up into one hour sessions, you can choose to stay for an hour or up to six.

Participants will be in teams of up to ten, each raising funds for the charity of their choice.

People can join in as a team or as individuals and be allocated to a team.

The joining fee is £22 and it all goes to the charity.

The Leisure Centre has ‘donated’ the gym for the evening and all the organising is being done by volunteers.
