SIXTH form pupils at Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls have raised over £1000 for LATCH, the Welsh Children's Cancer Charity.
As part of last year's Young Enterprise programme, 19 students formed a company named 'Vice Versa', and decided that all profits would be donated to LATCH. Throughout the year the girls raised money by selling sweets at school discos, candy canes at Christmas and roses to celebrate Valentine's Day. The money raised by Vice Versa will go directly to LATCH to help children and young people suffering with cancer.
Tony Curtis and Howard Greenhaf from LATCH visited HMSG to formally accept the cheque from Vice Versa. Tony Curtis, Trustee & Chair of the LATCH Business Board said, "We are delighted with the donation and cannot express our gratitude to the girls for all their hard work. LATCH is such a worthwhile charity which helps many families affected by childhood cancer and leukaemia and this donation will make a big difference to these families."
Sarah Boucher, a sixth form pupil at HMSG and Managing Director of Vice Versa said, "Young Enterprise is a fantastic way of gaining insight into the business world and working as part of a team. We soon realised that our goal was not just about making money and decided to donate all our profits to LATCH and therefore make a significant difference to those less fortunate than ourselves. We hope to maintain our close links with LATCH in the future."
