Penperlleni-based Mad Dog Brewing Co Ltd is starting production of the National Eisteddfod official beer - Iechyd Da - next Tuesday (May 17).

The activities get underway at 8.30am, when invited guests will be able to see the ingredients being mashed and merged to start the brewing process.

The official launch of the beer will take place on Saturday, June 4 at The Bridge Inn, Llanfoist - a stone’s throw away from Castle Meadows, the location of this year’s National Eisteddfod.

Councillor Bob Greenland, Cabinet Member for Innovation, Enterprise and Leisure said, ‘It is fantastic to see local businesses benefiting from the National Eisteddfod before the event. During the week of the Eisteddfod 150,000 visitors are expected from July 29 – August 6 which will see local businesses and producers of Monmouthshire to the forefront of Wales.”

Iechyd Da will be available to buy from June 4 from a variety of outlets across Monmouthshire and Wales.
