Apprentices in Abergavenny are being encouraged to enter this year’s Trade Apprentice 2016 award, run by Screwfix, which launches on Monday (February 8).

One apprentice from the region will be selected to attend the national final at Google Head Office later this year.

The overall winner will receive a business pack including a Google Nexus tablet and a top of the range laptop, as well as £5,000 worth of Screwfix products and up to £3,000 to spend on training.

Last year’s winner Nadia Connabeer said, “I’d recommend everyone to apply, I never thought I’d win and I’ve been on such a journey ever since I got the news, from the free products to the training I’ve received, it’s helped me and my career so much!”

Apprentices can pick up an entry form from any Screwfix store in Abergavenny, or be nominated by their boss. Applications can also be completed online by logging onto screwfix.com/sfta
