A 32-year-old man who broke into the St John Ambulance Hall in Abergavenny causing £500 worth of damage and stealing more than £200 worth of cash and vouchers has been sent to prison.

Police arrested Andrew Viveash in connection with the offence on February 1. Due to the amount of evidence collected by officers, Viveash was charged with the burglary and remanded in custody, to appear at Newport Magistrates Court on February 2.

At court, he pleaded guilty to the burglary and received a prison sentence of 12 weeks and was ordered to pay £80 surcharge and £795.83 compensation.
