THE Conservative Party has claimed victory in this week’s by-election for the Castle Street seat left vacant by the recent resignation of Councillor Stephen Head.

In a two way race between Morgan Jai Lewis and Kevin Glyn Williams, the Tory candidate took the seat, polling 268 votes against the Labour candidate’s 146.

Speaking after Thursday’s election, the new Councillor Lewis said, “I’d like to thank all those who voted for me and I greatly look forward to getting some work done.

The ward’s county councillor Maureen Powell said, “It is good to see some new blood joining the town council.  Thank you to all who helped Morgan to his success.”
