With the result of the Monmouth race to the Welsh Assembly due to be announced at around 5am the turnout has been been released with an increase from 46.1 per cent at the last election to 49 percent - one of the highest in Wales.

With counting set to start following a lengthy verification process the counters are set to return any minute from a short break.
