Monmouth MP David Davies has been re-elected as chairman of the Commons Welsh Affairs committee with support from Labour members.

Mr Davies was re-elected unopposed but under current rules will have to stand down in 2018 after serving eight years in the post with fellow Tory MP Glyn Davies suggesting he would then stand for the post.

The Monmouth MP has however said that the rules could chance as select committee chairs are now chosen by MPs rather than party whips.

Mr Davies said he hoped the select committee would continue to look at the impact of Brexit on Wales and plans to scrap the Severn Bridge tolls.
