Police who stopped a car uncovered vehicle offences and recovered hundreds of pounds’ worth of suspected stolen goods.

The pro-active vehicle stop by Gwent Police in Abergavenny in the early hours of Saturday, March 5, discovered the car’s tax was out of date and unroadworthy tyres with the cord exposed.

Police seized the vehicle to take it off the road and subsequently arrested two passengers on suspicion of theft.

Officers tweeted at 2.19am: “Pro-active vehicle stop in Abergavenny due to vehicle driving on a prohibition. Outdated tax since 2021 and cord exposed on the tyre. Vehicle seized.

“Two passengers arrested for numerous theft offences and hundreds of pounds of suspected stolen items recovered.”
