GWENT POLICE are investigating reports of a man loitering around some schools in Blaenau Gwent.

A spokeswoman said, "We were contacted by Brynmawr Comprehensive School following concerns about a man hanging around the school grounds.

"Officers attended, spoke to staff, made enquiries and are looking into it. The man did not go into the school or did not take anyone."

A spokesman for Blaenau Gwent said "We work closely with headteachers and staff in all our schools in order to safeguard pupils. We advise and update schools regularly on current child protection issues.

"The headteacher and staff at the school took the necessary precautions to safeguard all pupils.

"This is an ongoing police investigation and we are working with Gwent Police to help with their enquiries."
