PILCS - 1

GOVILON are through to the final of the County Motors Challenge Cup after a hard fought encounter against PILCS at Pen-y-pound Stadium last Friday night.

The Gwent County Division Two leaders who have amassed 112 goals to date this season, opened quietly, and it was PILCS who looked the brightest in the opening quarter until hot shot Dean Morgan latched on to a loose ball in the box and fired past Mackeness in PILCS' goal.

The Division Three leaders of the pack equalised when Robert Frost was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area and Walsh made no mistake from the spot.

The turning point came midway through the second half after Dean Morgan was felled in the box and ice cool Richard McCarthy hammered home to restore Govilon's lead.

Govilon introduced new signing Jamie Hammonds, and it was his pin point corner which found the head of Jamie Wilkins as Mackeness was beaten for the third time.

Govilon will now face local rivals Clydach Wasps in the final to be played at Pen-y-pound this May.
