Residents of Usk have a new hobby, parrot spotting. Robbie the Amazon Green is on the run after escaping from his owners, Paul and Janet Wilson of Priory Gardens and is now cocking a snook at all attempts to lure him back to his cage.
The cheeky boy has been appearing on rooftops and walls throughout the Town ignoring all efforts to entice him home. Concern is now growing however as the recent hot weather is turning more changeable.
He’s already quite well know in Usk with a cocktail name after him in the Mad Platter Microbar and Kitchen on Bridge Street and now his notoriety is spreading thanks to frequent noisy appearances when he has been screeching down peoples’ chimneys.
He has been seen on several occasions in the Churchyard of the Priory Church of St Mary and on the rooftops of Bridge Street and is, according to his owners, particularly fond of ice cream and pistachios.
According to experts, the Amazon Green is particularly bold, comical and loves being the ‘life and soul of the party.’ They are said to be intelligent and sociable and can live up to sixty years.
