CLASSICAL music, drama and the return of some vintage legends are among the highlights of the Spring 2017 Season at the Borough Theatre, Abergavenny. Details are available online at www.boroughtheatreabergavenny.co.uk of the brand new programme of entertainment from January to April 2017.
Tickets have already sold out for the first concert of the season by the legendary Showaddywaddy.
Other popular music events include Kast Off Kinks featuring former members of the legendary 60’s band and the Supersonic 70’s Show featuring all the classic hits of the 70’s.
There’s a wealth of classical music this season, including a recital by chamber ensemble The Barbican String Quartet, with an evening of Mozart, Haydn, and Mendelssohn, and Swansea City Opera’s production of Lakme set in the time of the British Raj in India.
Sadly a planned Viennese Gala has had to be cancelled.
Traditional folk group Fara play music from Orkney and three of Europe’s finest guitarists – Dylan Fowler, Ian Melrose and Soig Siberil explore their shared heritage in Celtic Guitar Journeys.
There’s a tribute to the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons with Let’s Hang On.
Stand-up comedian Seann Walsh returns with a brand new show and there’s comedy and music from Mike Doyle too.
There’s some wonderful theatre including A Regular Little Houdini – based on the true story of when Houdini came to Newport and performed by East Enders actor Daniel Llewelyn-Williams.
Solo performer Rhodri Miles presents the life of the great Welsh actor in Burton and performance art company Mr and Mrs Clarke return with a new show, FEAR.
Events for children and families include an exciting version of the classic legend Jason And The Argonauts and The Tap-Dancing Mermaid featuring live music, puppetry and tap-dancing!
As always, local community groups present a wealth of productions.
Abergavenny Theatre Group present Terry Pratchett’s Feet of Clay in January while The Abergavenny Pantomime Company present Snow White during February half-term.
There will also be a traditional St David’s Day Concert promoted by A4B with Blaenavon Male Voice Choir and local performers while the Concept Players stage the popular musical Evita.
Monmouthshire Youth Dance Company present Ignite, an exciting project which has empowered the young dancers to commission their own professional choreographers.
