THE Heads of the Valleys Road will once again be closed overnight on Thursday as pre-cast concrete river culvert units are installed.

The A465 will have to be closed to allow construction teams to reconfigure the concrete barriers on the road and also to carry out white lining. The road closure will extend from Brynmawr Roundabout to Glanbaiden Roundabout, with the Glanbaiden Roundabout fully open during the operation.

“Station Road Gilwern and Station Road Clydach South will be able to cross the A465 as previously organised. We currently envisage the work will be carried out between 8pm on Thursday and 6am on Friday,” said a spokesman for Costain.

Emergency vehicles will be escorted through the works as on previous occasions.

“During the course of the closures full access will be maintained through the site for emergency services vehicles which will be escorted by Costain’s traffic management team. Also we intend to maintain controlled access across the closure at the Saleyard and Gilwern junctions,” added the spokesman.
