GWENT Central Premier Division outfit Pandy were held to a 2-2 stalemate by Usk on the 'Island' last Saturday, after Usk's Will Barton put the home side level with a penalty in the 80th minute.

Pandy went into a 2-1 half time lead after a strike by Nigel Smith and a Steve Wedlock goal that bounced in over the Usk keeper's head, but Usk's man of the match Carl McEwan's first half strike gave the team the breathing distance needed to draw level in the second.

Goytre romped to a 6-1 away win at Gilwern and District after the teams were level-pegging at half-time following a Goytre goal by Gareth Edwards and a Gilwern strike by Tim Skarretts.

In the second-half Goytre stormed into the lead with a hat-trick from Jamie Leigh and a brace by Jonathan Jones.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division a ten-man Llanarth suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Pontypool Town.

Ward Griffiths was the Llanarth player sent off for handball, whilst the Llanarth goals went to Michael Morgan, Stephen Morgan and Ali Maidment.

Second-placed Division One side Clydach Wasps thundered to a 7-0 win over Cwmffrwdoer after a hat-trick from prolific goal-scorer Simon Tippins, and one apiece from Craig Evans, Kyle Cheshire, Matthew Williams, and Mark Prosser.

Although the Abergavenny Thursdays led 1-0 at half-time after a goal from Ashley Morgan in their away game against the Blaenavon Blues, they ultimately lost 4-2, as Liam Powell, Leon Catley, Mark Browning and James Cox all fired home to seal the win for the Blues.

Mardy also received a 4-2 thumping at the hands of New Inn. All six goals came in the second-half, with Mardy netting through Gavin Ewers and a New Inn own goal.

Govilon won 5-1 at home to Sebastopol following a brace from man of the match Kieran Shelvin, and a goal apiece from Paul Sullivan, Lewis Meadows and Stuart Norman.

Prescoed go top of Division Two following a 12-0 home win over a young Gilwern 'B' side.

Shaun Sievwright and Duane Dakata both bagged hat-tricks on the day, leaving Luke Byrne, David Bowen, and Nathan Rees to finish the job with a brace apiece.

Clydach 'B' beat Usk Town at home 3-0 after a brace from Ryan Bennett and a solo effort by Paul Travis.

Llanfoist narrowly missed out to Trevethin 'B' who beat them 3-2. Llanfoist's goals came from a strike by Steve Thomas, plus a penalty by man of the match Wyn Evans.

Llanarth 'B' were put to the sword to the tune of 6-1 by Pontypool Town 'B', who netted all their goals in the first half.

Llanarth managed to stop the rot in the second, and scored a consolation goal of their own through Justin Chalmers.

On a final note, due to a player shortage, Crickhowell had to call of their visit to Race.

Unless old and new players come forward soon to join Crickhowell FC, the club will have to withdraw from the league.
