WHAT would you do if you found an intruder in your home - probably not quite the same as the stars of Jude Garland’s Last Stand, the latest offering from the A4b award winning Breakthrough Productions which can be seen at Abergavenny Borough Theatre this week.
When Sam gets up in the middle of the night for a glass of water and finds an intruder in his house he does what any self-respecting householder would do - bops him on the head with a handy golf club.
Believing his victim dead and fearing he is ‘too pretty for prison’ Sam sets about disposing of the evidence with the help of his partner Paul, his heavily pregnant sister and her friendly midwife. Their best laid plans go awry however when the ‘corpse’ wakes up at the most inconvenient moment...
Rather than take the drastic step of killing him again the four decide to invent a new persona for their unwelcome house guest using social media and set about creating false Facebook and Twitter accounts with confusing repercussions.
“While this is a comedy it does have some serious undertones about the dangers of social media - if you really look hard,” said writer, Abergavenny Chronicle editor Liz Davies.
Jude Garland’s Last Stand can be seen at the Borough Theatre on Thursday and Friday and tickets are available now from the theatre box office on 01875 850805 or online from www.boroughtheatreabergavenny.co.uk/event.php?eid=1174
