NatWest have confirmed they will be removing their cashpoint from Crickhowell, despite being shown that the information they used to justify the closure was not correct.
In their report about the decision NatWest claimed that cash point facilities were available at Elvicta - however Elvicta actually make cash machines and do not provide an active ATM service. This information was presented to NatWest officials at a meeting with Kirsty Williams AM and local campaigners last month.
NatWest’s usage figures for the first six months of 2017 for this cashpoint were 34,790.
Commenting on the decision Kirsty Williams, Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, said, “Despite this cashpoint being used nearly 35,000 times in the first six months of 2017, NatWest have decided to ignore the wishes of local people once again. The new evidence we presented to them should have been enough to show them their reasoning was flawed.
“We will not give up though. I have written to another cashpoint provider to see if they will step in to provide a cashpoint in the town.”
