Visitors to the Gwent National Garden Scheme (NGS) Open Gardens have raised nearly £15,000 already this year – a new record by the end of May.

Keeping the momentum going, Longhouse Farm at Penrhos near Raglan will be throwing open the garden gates on Saturday and Sunday this week ( June 11 and 12)

Always a favourite, Longhouse Farm has a hidden two acre garden with a south-facing terrace, a wonderful collection of pelargoniums, a millrace wall, pond and spacious lawns with extensive views. There is also a stunning collection of colourful and unusual plants in the borders, a malus avenue and a recently revamped productive vegetable garden.

A woodland walk is being created with a stream, hidden ponds and massed bluebells in Spring. Now is the time to come and watch the progress of this new project as the ponds are dredged and lost features revealed.

Longhouse Farm is open on June 11-12 from 2pm – 6 pm. Admission, with all takings going to the NGS charities, is £4.50 for adults (children free). Plants and home-made teas will be on sale.
