The Llantrisant pensioner whose death has sparked a murder investigation has been named by police as Anne Jackson.
A has been arrested on suspicion of murder after 78-year Mrs Jackson's body was found at her isolated smallholding near Usk.
Gwent Police say officers were called to an address in Llantrisant near Usk at about 7pm on Saturday.
Police confirmed the woman was local to the area and her cause of death was being investigated.
Her family has been informed while a 48-year-old man is in custody and helping police with their inquiries.
Det Ch Insp Richard Williams said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this very difficult time.
"Our investigation will establish exactly what happened and I can confirm that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."
