A staff member at an Abergavenny florist’s got the shock of her life when one of the stars of her favourite TV show paid her a surprise visit.

Greg Austin, who plays Gordon Selfridge - Harry Selfridge’s son - in ITV’s hit period drama Mr Selfridge, was in the area, visiting his grandfather.

“When I heard that Hannah-Mae Lane, who works at Hilarys Floral Designs, was a huge fan of the show and my character, I felt it would be nice to pay her a surprise visit. It was really good meeting her and the rest of the staff.”

Hannah-Mae was thrilled to see him.

“When he walked in and asked for me, I couldn’t believe it,” she said.

“Mr Selfridge is a wonderful period drama. It’s my favourite TV show. I’m going to be so sad when it finishes this week.

“Greg was so nice. We spent quite a bit of time chatting about the show, the characters, and how his role has changed throughout the series ...and taking ‘selfies’. I still can’t believe it. This kind of thing doesn’t normally happen to me!”
