As part of the A465 Heads of the Valleys dualling project Costain is planning a number of operations outside normal working hours, for safety purposes and to minimise disruption to travellers.

The installation and relocation of temporary road safety barriers within the carriageway adjacent to Glanbaiden roundabout at Gilwern is scheduled to take place between 7pm this evening (Thursday August 11) and 6am tomorrow morning.

The company says it will undertake the noisier work as early as possible in the evening and will also be using acoustic barriers.

Overnight work is also planned for the area of Blackrock Hill North and South - to install sheet piling alongside the carriageway and to construct a mini roundabout to the west of the existing Brynmawr roundabout on the approach to Section 3 of the A465, which will also include surfacing.

The work is anticipated to take place on the following nights between 7pm and 6am the next morning:-

Monday August 8, Tuesday August 9 and Wednesday August 10;

Monday August 15, Tuesday August 16, Wednesday August 17 and Thursday August 18;

Monday August 22, Tuesday August 23, Wednesday August 24 and Thursday August 25.

Meanwhile at Clydach North and Saleyard a traffic management switch has been carried out this week to allow for the excavation and installation of ducts for a planned BT diversion.
