MONMOUTHSHIRE County Council is one of the top performing local authorities in Wales according to a publication by Data Unit Wales, part of the Welsh Local Government Association. The data compares performance of all 22 Welsh councils.
Among the range of services highlighted are education, recycling, libraries and the council’s waste service where Monmouthshire’s residents have once again increased the amount they recycle to help the authority meet targets.
Commenting on the published data, Council Leader Peter Fox said, ‘I’m pleased that this data continues to show we are among one of the highest performing authorities in Wales. Over the past few years we’ve worked really hard to make the council more efficient.
‘We will continue to prioritise those services which have the greatest impact on the well-being of our residents and set the organisation on a path that can deliver a sustainable future for services in Monmouthshire’.
Councillors will receive the full evaluation of the authority’s performance in 2016-17 at a meeting of the county council on 21st September. The full report from Data Unit Wales can be viewed at www.dataunitwales.gov.uk/home.
