GWENT Police's neighbourhood team are on the move. A mobile station is tour the Abergavenny areas on the third and fourth week of each month so as to form a closer relationship with the rural communities.
The police are keen to know about all kinds of issues which are of concern to residents. Residents are welcome to sit inside the fully equipped mobile police stations that have computer links to the force's data systems. Gwent Police hope by getting out and about in communities, they will increase engagement opportunities with the public.
Superintendent David Johnson, who led the project to implement the mobile stations, said: "We have a large number of rural or smaller communities which are some distance from the nearest police station. We want to ensure everyone in the Abergavenny area to have the same access to our services, wherever they live.
The mobile station will visit these areas every third Wednesday of the month - Rother Avenue, between 10am and 11am; from noon to 1pm at Croesonen Park; between 1.30 and 2.30 at main Road in Govilon; from 3pm to 3.30pm the station will be located at Lower Common in Gilwern and between 4pm and 4.30pm at Church Road in Gilwern.
Every third Sunday in the month the mobile police station will be positioned at Grwyne Valley between 10am and noon; between 1pm and 2pm in Grosmont, and at the Skirrid Inn at Pandy from 2.30 until 3.30pm.
Every fourth Monday of the month the mobile police station will visit Llanelly Hill Brecon Cottage between 10am and noon; North Clydach between 1pm and 2pm; Wern Gifford between 2.30pm and 3.30pm and Clydach south from 4pm to 5pm.
