ABERGAVENNY Castle will enter a time warp on Saturday June 9th as it falls back 600 years to bring to life the period of the Hundred Years War.

The conflict, fought mainly between the Plantagenets of England and the Valois of France, lasted from 1337 - 1453.

Re-enactment society, The Freemen of Gwent, will set up camp in the grounds offering an opportunity to chat with medieval cooks, take a close look at the living quarters of knights and soldiers and gain an understanding of the fearsome Welsh longbow.

Councillor Bob Greenland, Monmouthshire’s cabinet member with responsibility for cultural services said, ‘This occasion promises to be fun and interesting for all ages as it brings medieval history to life in the surroundings of an ancient Marches castle.’

Tickets will be available at the gate – adults (£5), children (£3) and family (£15). The event will run from 11am to 4pm.
